What is permaculture?
Permaculture (permanent agriculture, permanent and stable culture) is the harmonious integration of landscape and humanity, providing food, energy, shelter, and other material and non-material needs in a sustainable system. It is also the conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally productive ecosystems that have the diversity, stability and resilience of natural ecosystems.

Site and Accommodations
The Moose Pond Arts+Ecology site is a relatively undeveloped rural location shared by 5 full-time residents, 2 dogs, a small flock of chickens and a few turkeys, as well as a host of wildlife including beavers, deer, raptors and yes, the occasional moose. We will be renting a large tent for a meeting space and will be able to use our office in downtown Norway, 15 minutes away, if weather is really bad. Primitive camping is available at various locations around the garden and in the surrounding forest. Motel accommodations are available in Norway/South Paris for reasonable rates. Potable water is available near the gardens and meeting location and a 7-foot wood-fired hot tub and solar showers will be available for bathing, but you might want to bring your own shower bag. Humanure will be handled in outhouse-style composting sawdust toilets. Parking will be available a short walk from the meeting area.

Moose Pond is great for kayaking and canoeing so bring a boat if you have one. We've got a couple that can be shared. There is also a mile or so of trails on the property for hiking, and more in the surrounding area.
